  • Muscular Strength
  • Endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Body Composition
  • General Improvement of Health & Disease Prevention</strong>
  • Healthier State of Mind

Components Of Physical Fitness

Muscular Strength

We define muscular strength as the maximum amount of force that a muscle can exert against some form of resistance in a single effort.

Our strength follows us throughout our entire life. Whatever your goal might be, simple truth is that our physical strength will play the major role in how well we can perform all of our daily tasks and leisurely pursuits. For some people, physical strength might mean; being able to carry groceries without issue or being able to climb the stairs with ease. While others may define as being able to perform a physically demanding activity with the best outcome.

No matter of your age, your gender and your level of fitness, your physical goal is important! Bottom line is that you can change how strong you are; and whenever you are an athlete or not, definitely care about your strength, so you can experience all benefits of being physically strong!

Endurance

“Endurance can be defined as the ability to continue to endure a stress, hardship or level of suffering. In the context of sport, endurance is the ability to sustain a specific activity (endurance running, cycling, swimming, rowing, cross-country skiing etc) for a prolonged period.”

In fact, this sector of fitness is surrounding us every day. Whenever we have to complete any task for longer duration such as walking or cleaning house, the endurance will play a significant role on period we can perform those activities. We should highlight this part of fitness to all of us! This is because we are getting older every day! While you still fit and young, you might not spot the importance of endurance, but eventually one day you might struggle with extra breaths while performing activities or pleasures that you could normally do before! Luckily, we can always improve and get better with our endurance by regular exercises!

Flexibility

“Flexibility is the range of motion in a joint or group of joints or the ability to move joints effectively through a complete range of motion. Improving your flexibility can help you move more comfortably throughout the day.”

Being flexible means not only that, you can bend over and touch your toes. Realistically being flexible means that each joint and each muscle group have a different range of flexibility or different range of motion (ROM). Some areas of the body might be tight and restricted in the movement patterns which will have a big impact on daily functioning but also on the technique of exercises.

Lack of flexibility also will have other negative effects, such as:

  • Higher chance of injuries caused by tensed joints or muscle fibres.
  • Decreased muscle recovery, caused by weaker blood supply.
  • Joint pains, caused by lacking of flexibility within joint movement.

Body Composition

Body composition is the proportion of fat and non-fat mass in your body. A healthy body composition is one that includes a lower percentage of body fat and a higher percentage of non-fat mass, which includes muscle, bones, and organs.

This is probably the most important factor for all of us. This links to our physical appearance, which we always take in consideration. Actually, this is probably #1 reason most of us step into physical activities. Let’s be real… our appearance is a valuable asset which affects our life but also reflects on other areas such as feeling good and strong in our bodies or improving our confidence.

Physical activities allow us to change ratio in proportion of our fat to muscles. By the end of the day is not only good looking body but also healthy body! At the same time, this allows us to perform better and decrease any future health-related problems by not taking care of this specific fitness sector.

General Improvement of Health & Disease Prevention

Moreover, physical inactivity is estimated to be the main cause for approximately 21–25% of breast and colon cancers, 27% of diabetes and approximately 30% of ischaemic heart disease burden.”

Getting deeper in the topic – depression also can be reduced and eliminated by moving around.
